The students enjoyed a great DARE program graduation. All the students that took part in the program graduated. They learned some very valuable lessons on making the proper decisions when it comes to saying NO to drugs, alcohol, and tobacco.
I want to thank all the parents that were able to make it to the grad. I think the students enjoyed having the grad at our school.
-The students have been working hard on the ROOTS program. We have been learning about water, fire, debris huts (shelter), general survival skills, and archery. Tim and Tal have been doing a great job of incorporating history (Social Studies), culture, traditions, and Science into the program. We will be doing an over night camp-out and permission slips will be going out very soon.
-The students also enjoyed a presentation by an Olympic athlete who came to the school. Adam Keeks who won the gold medal in 2008 for rowing was able to come to the school as part of the Esteem Team presentations. It was free to have him come and talk to the students about setting goals and how to follow through with those goals. I hope the students learned a valuable lesson.
-The final month is upon us now and we will be finishing the school year with final assessments and several field trips. All students will be going on the school wide field trip regardless of their attendance. As for the classroom field trip, if you were absent up to 5 times for the term, you will not qualify to go on the field trip. This year’s classroom field trip we will be going to Splashdown Water Park in Tsawwassen. Again, all permission slips will be going out before each of the field trips.

LOOKING FORWARD TO SEPTEMBER 2010
